Ingredients (9)

50.00 peaches — ripe, yellow
5.00 onion — finely chopped
1.00 salt — just a pinch
125.00 ml vinegar
30.00 ml curry powder
5.00 chillies — finely chopped
5.00 ml chillies — powder
1.00 kg sugar
15.00 ml allspice — whole

Method:

Peel the peaches, then chop and remove the pips.
Mix all ingredients, except the allspice, in a large saucepan.
Place the allspice in a small muslin bag and add to the saucepan.
Simmer for 30 minutes until mixture is soft and slightly thicker.
Remove the allspice, pour into sterilised jars and seal while still hot.
Makes two jars.

This fruity chutney is a delicious accompaniment to cold meats and salads or any savoury dish.
