Peach chutney

    ripe yellow peaches
  • 5
    onions, finely chopped
  • 1
    pinch of salt
  • 125
    vinegar, or up to double the amount, to taste
  • 30
    curry powder
  • 5
    chillies, finely chopped
  • 5
    chilli powder
  • 1
  • 15
    whole allspice


30 minutes
Peel the peaches, then chop and remove the pips.
Mix all ingredients, except the allspice, in a large saucepan.
Place the allspice in a small muslin bag and add to the saucepan.
Simmer for 30 minutes until mixture is soft and slightly thicker.
Remove the allspice, pour into sterilised jars and seal while still hot.
Makes two jars.

This fruity chutney is a delicious accompaniment to cold meats and salads or any savoury dish.
