OSCARS BISCUITS
125.00 g butter — soft
65.00 ml castor sugar
1.00 eggs — large
30.00 ml golden syrup
15.00 ml orange — zest only
340.00 g flour — cake
0.00 butter icing — to decorate
0.00 edible decorative balls — silver
STAR CAKES
1.00 cake — square
100.00 ml jam — apricot
0.00 dessicated coconut — to garnish
0.00 chocolate — vermicelli

Method:

Oscars biscuits
Beat together butter and sugar until light. Add egg and beat well. Add syrup and orange rind and beat well.

Mix in flour to form a firm dough. Cover and refrigerate for 20 minutes.

Roll out the dough onto a lightly floured surface to a 5mm thickness. Use a star-shaped cookie cutter to cut out stars. Decorate with silver balls if desired. Place on greased
and lined baking trays and bake in preheated oven for 10 minutes.

Leave to cool, then ice and decorate if you did not already decorate with silver balls.

Star cakes

Cut the cake into squares. Heat the jam until runny, then brush onto all sides of each cake square.

Dip each square into coconut to cover three of the sides. Place a star-shaped cookie cutter on the uncovered side of the squares and sprinkle chocolate vermicelli into the star shape.
