LOAF
420.00 g flour — cake
15.00 ml Baking powder
7.00 ml salt
30.00 ml poppy seeds
200.00 g white sugar
250.00 ml milk
250.00 ml oil
4.00 eggs
1.00 ml vanilla — essence
SYRUP
250.00 ml orange juice
200.00 g white sugar

Method:

Preheat the oven to 180 ºC (350 ºF). Grease two small 23 x 11 x 7 cm loaf tins with margarine. Sift the cake flour, baking powder and salt together in a mixing bowl and add the remaining loaf ingredients. Beat for 2 minutes with an electric beater until well blended. Turn the mixture into the greased tins, spreading it evenly. Bake for about 40 minutes or until a testing skewer comes out clean when inserted into the loaves. Prick holes in the crust with a testing skewer. Heat the orange juice and sugar together, stirring to ensure that the sugar dissolves before the mixture boils. Boil for about 1 minute. Pour the syrup over the loaves and cool in the tins. Turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Makes 2 small loaves.
