Ingredients (11)

120.00 g chocolate
100.00 g butter
315.00 g castor sugar
2.00 eggs — large
140.00 g flour — cake
50.00 g cocoa powder
2.00 ml Bicarbonate of soda
5.00 ml vanilla — essence
60.00 ml milk
70.00 g walnuts — chopped
70.00 g almonds — slivered

Method:

1. Preheat oven to 190 ºC. In a large saucepan, melt the chocolate and butter over low heat, stirring occasionally until smooth. Remove from heat.
2. Whisk in the sugar and then the eggs. Then stir in the flour, cocoa and bicarbonate of soda. Add the vanilla and milk and stir until well blended. Stir in the walnuts and 50 g of the slivered almonds.
3. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of the mixture about 5 cm apart on a large greased baking tray. Place the remaining slivered almonds on top of each drop and bake in preheated oven for about 12 minutes, until set. Allow to cool on the baking tray for 2 minutes. Transfer to a cooling rack and allow to cool completely.
