Mushroom sauce

    small onion, finely chopped
  • 15

    cold water
  • 1
    packet mushroom soup powder
  • coarsely ground black pepper
  • 100
    seedless raisins (optional)


Fry the onion in heated butter until tender. Mix the soup powder and cold water and add to the onion along with the raisons if you're using them. Stir well and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat and simmer slowly until thick and cooked. Season generously with black pepper. Makes about 500 ml sauce.
