Ingredients (15)

250.00 ml breadcrumbs — stale
60.00 ml milk
500.00 g beef mince
1.00 onion — small, chopped
30.00 ml fresh parsley — chopped
5.00 ml dried mixed herbs
1.00 eggs — lightly beaten
30.00 ml oil
Sweet pepper sauce
15.00 ml oil
1.00 onion — small, chopped
1.00 red pepper — chopped
1.00 green pepper — chopped
2.00 celery stalks — chopped
5.00 ml paprika
250.00 ml water

Method:

Combine breadcrumbs and milk in a bowl and allow to stand for 5 minutes.
Combine breadcrumb mixture, mince, onion, herbs and egg in a bowl and mix well.
Shape level tablespoons of the mixture into balls.
Heat oil in a pan, add meatballs and cook, shaking pan occasionally until meatballs are browned.
Drain on absorbent paper.
Transfer meatballs to a shallow, ovenproof dish (1 litre capacity), topped with sweet pepper sauce.Bake covered, at 180 °C for about 30 minutes or until hot.
To make sweet pepper sauce:
Heat oil in a pan and add onion, peppers and celery.
Cook, stirring, until onion is soft.
Add paprika, paste stock powder and water and stir over heat until well browned.
