Macaroni cheese with tomato sauce

Ingredients (16)

200.00 g pasta — macaroni, cooked
30.00 g butter
30.00 g flour
250.00 ml milk
310.00 g nestlé dessert cream
5.00 ml stock powder — Maggi Garlic
250.00 ml mature cheddar cheese — grated
1.00 eggs
125.00 ml peppadews — chopped
0.00 salt and freshly ground black pepper — to taste
0.00 cheese — for sprinkling
SAUCE
1.00 onion — small, chopped
15.00 ml oil
1.00 tinned tomatoes — chopped
5.00 ml stock powder — Maggi Garlic
10.00 ml fresh parsley — or basil, chopped

Method:

Preheat oven to 180°C.

Lightly grease six individual or 1 large ovenproof dish.

Melt butter, add flour and cook, stirring over low heat for 1 minute.

Add milk and cream stirring until smooth.

Cook, stirring over medium heat until mixture boils and thickens.

Stir in garlic stock, macaroni, egg, peppadews and cheese. Mix well and season to taste.

Spoon into dishes, top with extra grated cheese and place dishes into a large baking dish half filled with water.

Bake for 30 minutes or until set. Leave it rest for 5 minutes before turning out (individual dishes) and serving with tomato sauce.

Sauce: Fry onion in oil until soft and add tomatoes. Stir in Garlic Stock and simmer for 10 minutes, adding a little water if necessary. Season to taste and stir in parsley or basil.
