    ground almonds

    baking powder

    milk

    cocoa powder
  • 50

    chocolate chips
  • extra chocolate chips and white chocolate for decorating
 

Method

 

Preheat the oven to 160°C. Grease and line a loaf tin.

Beat butter and sugar with an electric or rotary beater until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, flour, ground almonds, baking powder, milk and cocoa until smooth.

Stir in the chocolate chips and spoon into the loaf tin. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes until golden and a skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean.

Cool in the tin and turn out onto a wire rack over a kitchen paper.

Melt the extra chocolate chunks separately in pans over barely simmering water, or in bowls in the microwave, then use a spoon to drizzle each in turn over the cake. Leave to set before slicing.
