Ingredients (8)

BATTER
375.00 ml flour — cake
salt — pinch
12.00 ml Baking powder
1.00 eggs — extra-large, whisked
200.00 ml water
6.00 bread — white slices, crusts removed
jam — smooth, strawberry
oil — for deep frying

Method:

Mix the dry ingredients for the batter and add the egg and water. Mix until smooth. Spread three slices of bread with a thick layer of strawberry jam. Place the other three slices on top. Quarter each sandwich to make 12 triangles. Dip each triangle in the batter and deep-fry till golden brown. Drain on paper towelling. Serve hot or cold, with custard, if desired.
Makes 12 triangles.
