Honey-basted pears

  • 6
    ripe pears
  • 1
    lime or lemon, the juice and finely grated rind
  • 30

    low-fat creme fraîche, fromage frais or low-fat cream cheese
  • 15
    castor sugar
  • ground cinnamon
  • mint or lime juice


Halve the pears lengthwise and core them.
Sprinkle with lime or lemon juice to prevent discolouration.
Heat a griddle pan until very hot and cook the pears cut side facing down (drizzle a little of the honey over the pears while cooking) for one minute.
Transfer to a heated serving bowl.
Make a topping by mixing the crême fraîche or cheese, castor sugar and finely grated lime or lemon rind.
Serve the hot pears with a dusting of cinnamon, garnished with mint or lime and the topping on the side.
