Ingredients (12)

225.00 g flour — brown bread
15.00 ml Baking powder
5.00 ml mustard — powder
2.00 ml Bicarbonate of soda
10.00 ml sugar
10.00 ml dried chillies — crushed
2.00 ml salt
100.00 g ham — chopped
2.00 spring onions — thinly sliced
90.00 g butter
175.00 ml Buttermilk
milk

Method:

Combine all the dry ingredients with the ham and spring onions.
Using a pair of sharp knives or a pastry cutter, cut in the butter until the flour is the consistency of breadcrumbs. Mix in the buttermilk.
Roll out the dough 1 cm thick and cut into 5 cm circles.
Place on an ungreased baking tray and brush tops with milk.
Bake in preheated 200 ºC oven until the biscuits have risen and the tops are slightly browned, about 20 minutes.
