Ingredients (7)

1 french loaf — long, cut into four chunks
butter — or wholegrain mustard
4 ham — or pastrami, sliced
4 tomatoes
300 ml cheese — grated
50 ml milk
5 ml mustard — powder

Method:

Preheat the oven grill.

Slice each of the four chunks of bread lengthways and spread with butter or wholegrain mustard. Arrange the ham and tomatoes on the bread and season with salt and pepper.

Mix the cheese, milk and mustard powder together and set aside for about 5 minutes. Divide the mixture among the four open sandwiches and place them under the hot grill until the cheese is golden brown. Serve hot, with a cup of instant soup.
