Greek green beans

    large cloves of garlic, crushed

    medium onion, chopped

    medium potatoes, cubed

    fresh green beans, topped and tailed
  • 410
    tomato and onion mix
  • oregano
  • pinch of brown sugar
  • freshly ground black pepper and salt
  • 115
    tomato paste
  • about three wheels of feta cheese, roughly crumbled


Melt the butter in a large dish and fry the garlic and onion until soft and fragrant, Add the potato pieces and sufficient water to cover and cook until soft. Add the beans to the potato and add the tomato and onion mixture as well as the herbs. Spoon the tomato paste into the empty tomato and onion mix tin and fill up with water. Add to the beans, lower the heat and allow to simmer until the beans are cooked (about 20 minutes). Season and sprinkle with feta cheese. Put on a warm serving dish and serve with roast pork or mutton. Serves 4 as a side dish.
