Gnocchi bolognese

  • 20
    olive oil
  • 1
    large onion, chopped
  • 2
    garlic, crushed
  • 1
    green pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 400
    lean beef mince
  • 1
    chopped tomatoes
  • 15
    tomato paste
  • 5
    mixed Italian herbs
  • 1
    packet of ready-made potato gnocchi, cooked and drained
  • Parmesan and fresh basil, to serve
  • salad, to serve


Heat the oil. Add the onion and sauté for a minute. Add the garlic and pepper and sauté for a further 30 seconds. Add the mince and cook, stirring for five minutes.

Add the chopped tomatoes, tomato paste and herbs. Simmer for 15-20 minutes.

Add the gnocchi and simmer for a further 3 minutes. Serve sprinkled with grated Parmesan and fresh basil. Serve a salad on the side.
