Garlic pizza bread

    hand-hot water
  • pinch of sugar

    dried yeast

    butter, softened
  • 4
    cloves garlic, crushed
  • herb oil


1. Mix 100 ml hand-hot water, sugar and yeast. Leave in a warm place for about 10 minutes until a frothy head forms. 2. Mix flour, yeast mixture, oil and butter. Add enough of the remaining water to form a soft, pliable dough. Knead well on a floured slab for 10 minutes; place in an oiled bowl; cover with plastic wrap and leave to rise in a warm place for an hour or until double in size. 3. Preheat an oven to 200 ºC. Roll out the dough to about 5 mm thick. Place on a greased baking sheet and curl up the edges to form a border. 4. Leave to prove for 20 minutes. Dimple surface of dough using your fingertips. Brush dough well with herb oil (see recipe) and sprinkle on crushed garlic. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden.
