custard — ready-made
fruit — tinned
cornflour — for thickening

Method:

Spoon 15 ml egg custard into each baked tartlet shell just before serving.
Decorate as follows: Arrange canned apricot or peach halves, or red or black cherries on top of the egg custard. Thicken some of the syrup with a little cornflour and pour over each tartlet. Alternatively, blend a little smooth apricot jam with lemon juice, heat slightly and spread over the fruit.
The egg custard may also be topped with small bunches of grapes, mango slices or thin slices of red-skinned apple. Boil the apple slices in a little water to prevent discolouration. Brush with melted apricot jam. It is unnecessary to glaze the grapes or mango.
