    lukewarm water

Preheat the oven to 190 ºC (375 ºF). Grease two medium-sized loaf tins with butter or margarine. Mix the white bread flour, instant yeast, salt and sugar in a mixing bowl. Add enough lukewarm water to form a manageable dough. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic and until it no longer sticks to your hands. Cover and leave to rest for about 15 minutes in a warm place. Knock down and shape into two loaves, place in the prepared tins, cover and leave to rise for about 40 minutes until double in volume. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes in the centre of the oven until the bread is baked through and sounds hollow when gently tapped on top. Turn the loaf out on a wire rack and spread butter over the crust. Makes two medium-sized loaves.
