French-style guava tarts

    firm guavas, peeled
  • 2
    oranges, juice
  • cake flour for rolling

    frozen puff pastry, thawed

Slice guavas thickly. Squeeze orange juice over and reserve. Sift a little flour onto work surface. Rub some extra flour on rolling pin. Roll pastry out to slightly thinner than its pre-rolled form. Cut pastry into 6 triangles. Place on a greased baking sheet. Using a sharp knife, lightly score lines about 5 mm from edge of each pastry triangle (don't slice right through). Place guavas, slightly overlapping, on pastry. Sprinkle each tart with 5 ml (1 tsp) sugar and dot with a little butter. Bake at 200 ºC for 20 to 25 minutes. Remove, drizzle with honey and grill for 4 to 5 minutes. Serve with cream or ice-cream. TOTAL KILOJOULE COUNT: 7 795 kJ (1 560 Cal). A portion: 1 300 kJ (260 Cal).
