Sesame beef stir-fry with cucumber salad

    beef minute steaks, thinly sliced

    rice wine or cider vinegar
  • sesame oil (optional)

    cucumber, diced
  • 30
    sunflower or canola oil

    onion, sliced
  • 1
    clove of garlic

    baby spinach

    sesame seeds, toasted
  • basmati rice, to serve



Mix together the beef, chilli, 10ml sugar, 30ml soy sauce, 15ml vinegar and a few drops of sesame oil (if using). Set aside to marinate.


Mix the cucumber with 5ml sugar, 10ml soy sauce, 15ml vinegar and a few drops of sesame oil. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Heat the oil in a wok or non-stick pan. Add the onion and garlic and sauté for 1 minute. Add the beef and stir-fry for 3 minutes. Add the spinach and stir-fry until just wilted. Stir in 15ml sesame seeds. Serve with rice and the cucumber salad, sprinkled with the remaining sesame seeds.
