Delightful butternut

  • 1
    large onion, finely chopped
  • oil
  • 4
    whole chillies
  • 5
    mustard seeds
  • 2
    butternuts, peeled and cubed


Fry the onion in a little oil until tender. Add the chillies and mustard seeds and stir-fry for about 2 minutes. Reduce the heat, add the cubed butternut and about 125 ml (1/2 c) water. Simmer until the butternut is tender. Add more water if necessary. Remove the chillies if desired. Serve with braaivleis. Serves 4-6.
