Corned salt beef

    joint of corned silverside of beef
  • 2
    large onions
  • 12
  • sprig of thyme
  • sprig of parsley
  • 6
  • 1

    head celery
  • 2


80 minutes
Place the beef in a saucepan and barely cover with water. Press the cloves into the onions and place in the pan along with the herbs and pepper. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Cut the turnip, carrots, celery and leeks in large pieces and add. Simmer for a further 60 minutes. Serve the vegetables with the meat. The leftover stock can be used to make a soup with vegetables added.
