675.00 g margarine
750.00 ml sugar
4.00 eggs — extra-large
15.00 ml golden syrup
397.00 g condensed milk
1.60 kg flour — cake
12.00 ml Bicarbonate of soda
12.00 ml Cream of tartar

Method:

This recipe makes a generous batch. Part of the dough may be frozen for later use – simply defrost and bake when needed.

Preheat oven to 180 °C and grease a few baking sheets with non-stick spray.
Cream the margarine and sugar and add the eggs one by one, beating well after each addition.
Add the syrup and condensed milk and mix well.
Sift the cake flour, bicarbonate of soda and cream of tartar together and add to the mixture.
Mix to form a stiff dough.
On a floured surface, roll out the dough to a thickness of 2 to 3 mm and cut out shapes with a cookie cutter.
Arrange on the prepared baking sheets and bake for 6 to 7 minutes or until the cookies begin to brown.
