Chocolate pecan pie

    butter or margerine
  • 250
  • 190
    golden syrup
  • 100
    dark chocolate, melted
  • 3
    eggs, lightly beaten
  • 5
    vanilla essence
  • 500
    pecan nuts, halve


1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Roll out pastry and line it in a greased pie dish.
2. To make filling, place butter, sugar and golden syrup in a saucepan over medium heat.
3. Stir mixture frequently until it comes to the boil. Remove from stove, adding the melted chocolate. Gradually add hot mixture to the beaten eggs. Carry on stirring until mixture is smooth.
4. Fold in vanilla essence and salt. Pour mixture into prepared pie shell.
5. Arrange the halved pecan nuts on top of the pie.
6. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until just set and pastry is golden.
7. Serve warm or cold.
