Ingredients (14)

2.00 kg chicken — pieces
30.00 ml cinnamon — ground
1.00 ml cloves — ground
black pepper — freshly ground
salt
45.00 ml fresh chillies — 573
3.00 garlic — cloves, crushed
1.00 onion — finely chopped
500.00 ml juice — mango-and-orange
3.00 ml turmeric
30.00 ml raisins
15.00 ml capers
125.00 ml almonds — coarsely chopped
3.00 oranges — peeled and segmented

Method:

Rub chicken with cinnamon, cloves, pepper and salt to season.
Heat oil in a large heavy-based saucepan. Brown a few pieces of chicken at a time until well browned on both sides and set aside.
Pour off excess fat.
Fry the garlic then add all the browned chicken. Add fruit juice, turmeric, raisins and capers.
Cover, reduce heat and simmer for 35 to 40 minutes or until chicken is tender.
Stir through almonds just before serving and garnish with orange segments.
