Butter cookies

  • 500
    instant cookie mix
  • 250
    butter or margarine
  • 30
    warm water
  • glacé cherries, chocolate sauce, or hundreds and thousands


Preheat oven to 180 ºC. Grease a baking sheet. Place butter in a mixing bowl and cream until light and fluffy with a wooden spoon or electric beater. Stir cookie mix into butter gradually, adding water to form a soft, pliable dough. Shape dough to form a 5 cm diameter log. Cover and place in refrigerator until firm (about 1 hour). Slice log into 0.5 cm pieces. Arrange on baking sheet and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until cookies are lightly brown in colour. Cool before storing.
