Braaied lamb chops with tomato sauce

    olive oil
  • 3
    onions, sliced
  • 3
    cloves garlic, crushed
  • 800
    tomatoes, drained and chopped
  • 20
    tomato purée
  • 3
    dried basil
  • 10
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 8
    lamb chops


1. Heat oil in a large frying pan and add onions until tender. Add remaining ingredients except chops and cook for a further 15 minutes or until slightly reduced. 2. Place lamb chops on individual pieces of heavy aluminium foil, shiny side facing up. Spoon tomato mixture over each chop and wrap up securely. 3. Cook over hot coals for 30 minutes or in a preheated oven at 200 ºC for 20 to 30 minutes.
