Ingredients (4)

300.00 g flour — bread
20.00 g Superbake Instant Yeast
5.00 ml salt
800.00 ml water — lukewarm

Method:

1. Mix the flour, yeast and salt together in a large mixing bowl.

2. Add the water and mix until an easy-to-knead dough is formed. Knead the dough
for a good 15 to 20 minutes until elastic. Place back into the large mixing
bowl, and spread a little sunflower oil over the top.

3. Now place the entire bowl in a big black bag, cover with a towel, and leave somewhere warm to rise (about 1½ hours). It needs to double in size.


4. Grease a 30cm x 12cm bread pan. Remove the dough from the bowl and shape it into the pan. Cover the pan with a dishtowel and place it in a low-heat oven. Let it rise for a further 1½ hours (it must double in size again).

5. Take it out the oven, heat the oven to 170°C, and bake the bread on the
middle rack for about an hour. To check whether it’s done, tap the top
of the bread. If it makes a hollow sound, it’s ready. Spread a little butter
on the crust and carefully remove from the tin.
