Ingredients (12)

4.00 onions — large, chopped
50.00 ml oil
50.00 g bacon — chopped
800.00 g beef — stewing meat, strips
salt
freshly ground black pepper
flour — cake
300.00 ml beer
300.00 ml stock — beef
5.00 ml mustard — powder
10.00 ml sugar
2.00 ml mixed herbs

Method:

Sauté the onion in the heated oil until soft. Set aside. Fry the bacon until done and set aside. Season the meat strips with salt and pepper and lightly roll them in flour. Brown in the pan used to fry the onions. Add the onion, bacon and remaining ingredients and bring to the boil. Stir frequently. Reduce the heat and simmer for about two hours until the meat is tender and the sauce has thickened. Serve with boiled potatoes or noodles, green vegetables or sauerkraut.
