Ingredients (8)

750.00 ml flour — cake
5.00 ml salt
15.00 ml Baking powder
2.00 ml Bicarbonate of soda
30.00 ml brown sugar
340.00 ml beer
Glaze
1.00 eggs — whites only
2.00 ml salt

Method:

Preheat oven to 160 ºC. Grease a small loaf pan.
In a large bowl, sift together flour, salt, baking powder and bicarbonate of soda. Stir in sugar. Pour in beer and knead lightly to form a stiff dough.
Place dough in loaf pan.
GLAZE: Whisk egg white and salt well. Brush over loaf and bake for 1 hour, or until loaf recedes from sides of pan. Turn out and cool on a wire rack.
Makes 1 small loaf.
