Beef stir-fry with curry peanut sauce

  • 500
    beef strips
  • salt and freshly ground block pepper
  • oil
  • 2
    cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1
    onion, finely chopped
  • 5
    curry powder
  • 5
    peanut butter
  • 5
    soft brown sugar
  • 125
    cream or Nestlé Ideal Evaporated Milk
  • 1
    juice and rind of a lemon
  • 50
    peanuts, finely chopped


Season the beef strips with salt and pepper. Heat a little oil in a wok or fairly large pan and stir-fry until the meat is just done. Remove to a side dish and keep warm. Sauté the garlic and onion until tender and add the curry powder, peanut butter and brown sugar. Stir-fry for another minute. Add the cream or evaporated milk and simmer until the sauce thickens slightly. Season with lemon juice, salt and pepper to taste. Serve with the beef strips and sprinkle with the chopped peanuts. Serves 4.
