Ingredients (15)

30.00 ml fresh chillies — 573
750.00 g beef — shin, sliced
salt and freshly ground black pepper — to taste
1.00 onion — sliced into rings
1.00 lemon — sliced
250.00 ml stock — meat
15.00 ml tomato paste
Tabasco sauce — a few drops
20.00 ml Worcestershire sauce
60.00 ml chutney
chilli powder — to taste
5.00 ml sugar
2.00 ml paprika
2.00 ml cumin — ground
1.00 garlic — cloves, crushed

Method:

Preheat the oven to 160 ºC. Heat the olive oil in a pan and rapidly brown the meat. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Place the meat, onion and lemon in an oven dish. Bring the remaining ingredients to the boil and simmer for a few seconds. Pour over the meat, cover and bake for 1 1/2 -2 hours or until the meat is tender. (If the sauce becomes too thick, add a little red wine or water.) Serve with mashed potatoes or rice and vegetables.
Serves 4-6.
