Ingredients (13)

1.00 kg beef — strips
30.00 ml oil
30.00 ml butter
1.00 onion — finely chopped
30.00 ml flour — cake
250.00 ml beer
1.00 lemon — small, juice only
150.00 ml stock — beef
30.00 ml chutney
125.00 ml cream
2.00 ml fresh rosemary
salt
freshly ground black pepper

Method:

Season the beef with salt and pepper and fry in oil until brown. Remove from the pan and keep warm.
Melt the butter in the same pan and sauté the onion until soft. Add the cake flour. Stir to form a smooth paste and remove from the heat. Add the beer and stir well. Return to the stove and heat until the sauce thickens. Add the remaining ingredients and the fried beef. Reduce the heat and simmer until the meat is tender and done. Alternatively, place the meat in an ovenproof dish, pour over the sauce and bake in the oven at 160 ºC (325 ºF) for about 1 hour, or until tender. Serves 6.
