Banana curry

  • oil

    beef, cubed
  • 1
    onion, chopped
  • 1
    green pepper, chopped
  • 5
    curry powder
  • 5
  • 10
    roasted masala
  • 1
    chilli, chopped
  • 500
  • salt to taste
  • 4
    green bananas, cut into chunks


about 2 hours
Heat the oil in a heavy-based saucepan and brown the meat in batches. Set aside
Fry the onion and green pepper in the pan fat until soft.
Add the spices and chilli and fry for about five minutes.
Return the meat to the saucepan, add 250 ml of the water, cover and bring to the boil.
Simmer for 1 ½ to 2 hours or until the meat is tender.
If the curry becomes too dry, add more water.
Season with salt and add the banana chunks.
Cook rapidly to heat through and remove from the heat.
Leave the curry to rest for a few minutes and serve in rotis (see recipe) or on rice.
