Ingredients (14)

1.00 bread — sliced
185.00 ml stock — beef
500.00 g beef mince — lean
125.00 g bacon — streaky, finely chopped
1.00 eggs
5.00 ml sugar
sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
5.00 ml curry powder — mild
10.00 ml tomato sauce
5.00 ml Worcestershire sauce
1.00 onion — grated
45.00 ml fresh parsley — chopped
flour — for coating
30.00 g butter

Method:

1. Soak the bread in 125 ml beef stock. Break up the bread with a fork.
2. Mix with the mince, bacon, egg, sugar, seasoning, curry powder, tomato and Worcestershire sauce, onion and parsley. Knead until very smooth.
3. Shape into 8 patties and roll each in a little flour.
4. Pack the patties tightly in a greased ovenproof dish and pour in the remaining 60 ml beef stock.
5. Dot each patty with butter and bake in a preheated oven at 180 ºC for 1 hour, basting from time to time and adding more boiling water if necessary.
