Asian-style beef salad

  • 500
    beef fillet
  • 1
    large avocado
  • 1
    cucumber, cut in ribbons
  • sesame seeds, to sprinkle
  • 3
    garlic cloves
  • 1
    x 5 cm piece of ginger
  • 1
    lemon grass stalk
  • 1
  • 125
    soya sauce
  • 90
    rice wine vinegar
  • 30
    olive oil
  • 2
    limes, freshly squeezed juice

Preheat the grill to very hot.
Grill the beef for two minutes on each side.
Remove from the grill, allow to stand for 10 minutes, then slice thinly.
Pound garlic, ginger, lemon grass and chilli in a pestle and mortar.
Mix with soya sauce, vinegar, olive oil and lime juice.
Spoon out the avo onto a platter, and add cucumber ribbons.
Top with sliced meat and drizzle with dressing.
Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
