Apples in spiced red wine

  • 4
    green apples
  • red wine to cover
  • 1
    cinnamon stick
  • 4
    star anise pods
  • a few cloves
  • castor sugar to taste
  • 125
    whipped cream to serve


Slice and core the apples. Place in a saucepan and cover with red wine. Add cinnamon stick, star anise pods, cloves and castor sugar to taste. Heat gently and simmer until apples are tender. Serve hot with whipped cream.
