Bread pudding with apple and cinnamon

This pudding is ideal if you have leftover bread you don’t want to waste. If you can’t find
apples, you can use other canned fruit or raisins instead.

Ingredients (10)

1 day-old bread loaf or 10 slices of bread
410 g apples
cinnamon sticks — broken into pieces
eggs
500 ml milk
2,5 ml cinnamon — ground
60 ml butter — melted
60 ml brown sugar
2,5 ml cinnamon — ground
125 ml cream — fresh, whipped

Method:

1 Preheat the oven to 180°C.

2 Grease 6 small ovenproof dishes or 1 medium ovenproof dish well with nonstick spray.

3 Break the bread into rough pieces. Arrange the bread and apples in the ovenproof dish(es). Add the cinnamon sticks (if using).

EGG CUSTARD

1 Beat all the ingredients together and pour over the bread.

TO FINISH

1 Drizzle the butter over the bread pudding(s). Mix the sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over the pudding(s).

2 Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the egg custard has set completely.

TO SERVE

1 Serve the bread pudding(s) hot with whipped cream.
