Golden tuna bobotie

    slices fresh white bread, soaked in milk until soft

    bay leaves

  • Pinch of salt

Method

30-40 minutes
 

Use canned tuna to make this easy bobotie.

1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Grease two ovenproof dishes.

2. Heat the butter and sauté the onion until soft.

3. Mix the onion with the remaining ingredients and spoon the mixture into the dishes, spreading it evenly.

4. Topping. Add the bay leaves to the dishes and scatter the almonds on top.

5. Whisk together the milk, eggs, salt and cornflour and pour over the bobotie. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until the top is golden. Cool, cover and freeze.
