Lentil burgers


Lentil burger

  • LENTIL PATTIES
  • 2x250
    ml
    cooked brown lentils
  • 1
    small onion, chopped
  • 2
    garlic cloves, crushed
  • Handful of fresh parsley, chopped
  • 100
    g
    mozzarella cheese, grated
  • 1-2
    chillies, chopped (optional)
  • 15
    ml
    roasted masala
  • 1
    egg, whisked
  • 80
    ml
    flour salt and pepper oil for frying
  • SAUCE
  • 60
    ml
    sour cream or plain full-cream yoghurt
  • 30
    ml
    mayonnaise
  • 30
    ml
    chopped fresh parsley
  • BURGERS
  • 120

    mixed salad greens
  • 2
    tomatoes, sliced
  • 6
    hamburger buns, halved and buttered
 

Method

30 minutes
 

1. Lentil patties Mix the lentils, onion, garlic, parsley, cheese, chillies (if using), masala, egg and flour well and season with salt and pepper.

2. Heat a little oil in a non-stick pan and spoon dollops of the lentil mixture into the pan. Flatten each dollop slightly and fry until golden brown on one side. Carefully turn over and fry the other side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.

3. Repeat in batches until all the lentil mixture has been cooked.

4. Sauce Mix the ingredients well.

5. Burgers Arrange the salad greens and tomato slices on the hamburger buns. Add one or two lentil patties to each and spoon the sauce over.
