Tangy Asian chicken

    chicken breast fillets, cut into cubes

    soy sauce
  • 25
    dry sherry

  • sunflower oil, for deep-frying
  • 80
    cake flour

    lemon juice

    sesame seeds, toasted
  • noodles or rice and stir-fry vegetables, to serve


Put the chicken in a bowl and add the soy sauce, sherry and 30ml cornflour. Marinate for 20 minutes.

Heat a thick layer of oil for deep-frying. Combine the flour and 80ml cornflour. Dip the chicken pieces into the flour, shake off the excess. Fry in batches until golden. Drain on paper towels.

Mix the lemon juice, sugar, 150ml water and 10ml cornflour together in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat for a few minutes, stirring now and again until thickened. Add the cooked chicken and stir to coat. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve with noodles or rice and stir-fry vegetables. Serve immediately.
