Ingredients (8)

500 g beef mince
1 onion — finely chopped
1 green apple — peeled and grated
2 tsp mustard — seeds
freshly ground black pepper — to taste
1 eggs — beaten

Method:

Soak the bread in a little milk until it’s soggy.

Mix all the ingredients together with your hands (or if you have a well-stocked kitchen, use a food processor).

Wet your hands and shape the meat mixture into 8 patties. Place them in the fridge to firm up. If you don’t have a camping fridge, place them in a cool box or leave them in a cool place until you start braaiing.

Braai the patties over moderate coals on an open grill.

Make your own burgers with bread rolls, salad, sliced tomatoes and, if you prefer, a tablespoon of tomato pest

Go! tip: Grease the grid with oil or spray it with Spray ’n Cook so the meat doesn’t stick.
