Sweet but spicy chocolate chip cookies

Ingredients (8)

125 g butter — softened
125 ml brown sugar
200 ml golden syrup
750 ml flour — sifted
5 ml Bicarbonate of soda — sifted
5 ml ginger — ground
2,5 ml allspice — ground
100 g chocolate — chips

Method:

Preheat the oven to 180 °C.

1 Put the butter and sugar in a bowl and beat for 5 minutes,scraping down the sides of the bowl, until pale and creamy.

2 Add the golden syrup, flour,bicarbonate of soda, ginger and all-spice and beat until the mixture just comes together to form a smooth dough.

3 Fold in the chocolate chips.

4 Roll the mixture into balls,about 15 ml (1 tbsp) each, and put on a large lightly-greased baking sheet lined with baking paper.

5 Flatten slightly and bake for 8 minutes or until golden.

6 Allow to cool slightly before transferring to wire racks to cool completely
