Hump Day of the Year

21 Jun 2012

Right. Here we are. It’s officially the Hump Day of the year. (If you are still reading this then it means it got past the filters. Whew.)

It's not as rude as it sounds. Hump Day, for all those of you who don’t know, is Wednesday, the middle of the week. And once you are over that hump, it's downhill to the weekend.

So here we sit on 21 June, the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year. We've christened it Hump Day of the year and we want to make it something special.

We’re saying let's make a feast of it! Treat it like a holiday! Push the boat out! Get crazy!

I asked Food24’s Tess to dig deep and she has put together a menu so wicked you'll think it's Christmas!

So, pick your favourites and go large.

Thai chicken soup
Ricotta double mushroom phyllo pastry tartlets
Bruschetta with goats cheese and fig
Easy tomato tart

Rolled shoulder of lamb with feta and spinach stuffing
Gnocchi with gorgonzola
Beer and beef pie
Lemon and thyme roast chicken

Garlic potato wedges with roast pepper dip
Big brown mushrooms with basil pesto
Lush Winter Salad
Thai corn fritters

Banana and caramel pudding
Cinnamon and chocolate fondant
Berry cream cheese tartlets

And we didn’t stop there…  (that’s just how we roll).

More sweetness

Milk tart shooters
Choc pots with mint crisp crumble
Pink macarons
Rum and raisin truffles

There you go. Happy Hump Day of 2012 everyone!
