Hello everyone,

Crikey, it's Christmas next week!

The only thing I've organised is pressies for the kids and chlorine for the pool. The rest can wait until next year.

All I want to do now, is pack the family and my new cossie and head off to the coast for long, luscious days in the sun.

I'll also be packing my Xmas bacon.

What! You haven't heard? The very clever Nicki Friedman from Môreson wine farm in Franschhoek has launched the Bacon of the Month Club. The bacon is hand made by meat guru Neil Jewell  from Bread & Wine restaurant on the Môreson Estate - a ridiculously wonderful idea and really fab gift.

I'm going to start my days off with bacon and eggs Benny and my quickie Hollandaise sauce (easy video). Then some fun on the beach to swim up some hunger for lunch.
Some gorgeous salads or a picky tapas board will set things straight, not forgetting something yummy for the kids too like these pita pizzas which are super-quick and one can add the little ones favourite toppings.
Gourmet boerie rolls are also a funky way to jazz up any old lunchtime. Finish it off with  iced lollies or Peppermint Crisp ice cream sandwiches to cool down the summer sizzle.

When dusk starts to fall and it's time to hang up the towels for the day, light the fire and pour yourself your favourite beer or cocktail. Or sip on the very best Gin and Tonic whilst the sun goes down.

Then, of course, it's time to braai. Juicy steaks, fat lamb chops and sticky ribs. We've got them all in our gorgeous braai hub, including the best braai sides and salads to accompany the vleis.

It's going to be a great festive season with a bumper Christmas lunch and loads of holiday fun. See you for a cracker of a year in 2014!
