A healthy foodie welcome to 2012

December might be over, but summer isn't. Here is a list of awesome events still on the go!

I know, I know. The holidays are not quite over… (for some of you) …but it is January, the traditional month of detox.

I usually find the first few days of a detox hellish as my body has gotten quite used to chops, sosaties, garlic bread, potato bakes, braaibroodjies and lots and lots of wine and beer.  But if you can get through the first week with no braai or booze then I reckon you are home-free, and besides a lingering FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) … you generally start to feel quite lekker.

We’re going to break you in gently this January – none of this just green tea and berries, berries, berries… no, we’ve got some sensational healthy recipes for you to take a peek at and nimbly prepare for the whole family.

If it’s super-healthy you are looking for here are a few places to start. Chef Caro highly recommends this ginger detox drink and then diving into a breakfast of seasonal fruit or a boiled egg with asparagus and Parma ham.

Cleanse your body first thing, then before your big grocery shop check out our top 5 healthy family favourites, or if you’re aiming for a beach body have a look at these babies, and one of the all time favourites on Food24 is our Top 10 skinny jeans recipes.

Have you seen our fabulous vegetarian recipes section - why not make it a Meat-Free January instead of just a Meat-Free Monday?

And if you are serious about hanging up your braai tongs for more than just a week take a look at our chicken recipes section as well as our awesome seafood recipes.

If you’re not throwing yourself into a killer health regime and just want a break from summer braais then here are our Top 10 family favourites, our Top 5 chicken curries and our Top 10 spaghetti dishes.

Whatever you do, do it with wholesome food!
