Shrove Tuesday, the day to make... pancakes!

The day before Ash Wednesday, though religiously significant, is marked not just for its call to Lent but for its feasts and celebrations. And what's more fun to celebrate with than pancakes?

Some countries mark the occasion with Mardi Gras and beaming costumes, while others take to the kitchen — Shrove Tuesday (aka Pancake Day) is a day of celebration. Typically the Tuesday in February or March that immediately precedes Ash Wednesday (the first day of Lent), Shrove Tuesday is the last day you can gorge on your favourite things before Lenten fast begins.

Religious or not, pancakes are loved by so many — nostalgic, fun to make and delicious. Here're our favourite recipes to try this Pancake Day (this year taking place Tuesday 13 February).
