Pineapple on pizza: President of Iceland says he’d ban it if he could
It has emerged that Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, President of Iceland doesn’t approve of pineapple on a pizza. How do we know this? While taking questions from children at a North Icelandic school, one asked him what he thought about having pineapple as a topping on a pizza and his response was rather unexpected. First he made it clear that he didn’t like the idea of adding pineapple to a pizza (fair enough) and then went on to state that he would actually ban it in Iceland – if he had the power.
As you might imagine – his comment shook the internet up a bit and he later took to Facebook to make a statement on the issue (see below) and ended off saying, “For pizzas, I recommend seafood”.
Adding pineapple to a pizza has always been a hot topic of debate with pizza eaters expressing extremely strong opinions on the matter.
And now we want to hear from you… If you were President, what toppings would you ban on pizza? Tell us in the comments below or tweet us @Food24
