Jamie landed on America's shores with the intention to shift American school childrens' eating habits.

Ground Zero is Huntington, West Virginia, recently named the unhealthiest city in America.

Jamie cooked up some fun, healthy meals, but the kids are turning them down time and time again.

Frozen, processed foods seem to be the winners in the school lunch war and at the end of the lunch period, a mound of Jamie's food is thrown into the bin.

Jamie Oliver's "Food Revolution" reality TV series was a hit, but there were some hidden facts that the public are not aware of. In fact, he we went over budget and did not meet the fat content and calorie guidelines. The director of food services allowed him to contiue with the "revolution"  as long as he addressed the issues.

What is also not revealed is that the meal cost during television production, was more than doubled with ABC Productions paying the excess expense.

The reality behind "Food Revolution" is that after the first two months of the new meals, children were overwhelmingly unhappy with the food, milk consumption plummeted and many students dropped out of the school lunch program.

On top of that, food costs were way over budget and the school district was left with other unmanageable expenses. Jamie's failure to meet nutritional guidelines had school officials worried they would lose Federal funding and the State Department of Education would intervene.

In short, the "Food Revolution" had failed. The school has reintroduced the regular school menu and flavoured milk because Jamie's meals were so unpopular.

I have to wonder though, why they ever gave the junk-food-guzzling upstarts a choice? Surely you switch to the new menu and they get what they get? The kids would get a taste for fresh un-tampered with food that isn't made of plastic and orange food colourant and would be eating really good, down to earth Jamie food.

Check out the choices on the menu HERE, Jamie's food sounds fun and if it's made with fresh ingredients it's a no-brainer.

What do you think? Did Jamie lose or are Americans losers?
