Food24's top twitter foodies

We share our favourite foodies on twitter with you and ask you to share yours with us.

by: Cath Shone | 08 Feb 2012

So last week @CathyMarston our beloved wine editor on @food24 asked who your favourite foodies were on Twitter. She highlighted how a lot of small businesses are ‘winning’ with social media by tweeting about what they are up to and accumulating loyal followers.

There is no denying the power of Twitter and if you can say what you have to say in 140 characters to interact with like-minded people, then what better way to make use of an incredible social network and connect with potential customers and/or friends  aka “tweeps”. Long-winded press releases are so last decade...

@food24 has over 5000 followers, which we are very proud of, but for us, Twitter is about sharing foodie news and awesome recipes and finding, sorry, following, interesting foodie types like those mentioned in Cathy’s article.

Not only food bloggers and restaurants but ordinary folk who share food and wine news and are equally excited to hear about it and RT it. (That's retweet if you're new here). And of course the people out there making the bacon, as it were.
So without further ado here is our #FF for today... featuring some of our favourite tweeps:

Food tweeps:

Restaurants etc:

Wine tweeps:

Other fun tweeps:

So, that is just the tip of the twiceberg (feel free to punch me now), and if you are new on Twitter and you're interested in food and wine then this is a great list to kick off with.

Please tell us about your favourite foodie tweeps below in the comments section, especially people from Jozi, Pretoria and Durban (as you can see we follow a lot of Capetonians) … and we’ll start following them.

See you on Twitter!
