Welcome to July Vinatics with KWV Classic Collection

6 fabulous wines from KWV with 6 wonderful dishes.

by: Cathy Marston | 01 Jul 2011

Welcome to July’s Vinatics with some fabulous and affordable wines from KWV. This South African institution is having an unprecedented run of success at the moment with the top range, The Mentors, winning a host of medals both locally and overseas. The focus on quality has filtered down through the ranges and now, what was formally known as the Lifestyle range is being revamped and re-launched as the Classic Collection. Read more about it here.

The Dinner
We’ve been having a wonderful run of truly lovely people to dinner over the past few months and feel sure this coming month will be no exception! Joining us at Chef Caro’s this month will be some great food and wine bloggers, tweeters, marketers, chefs and then, of course, the usual motley crew from Food24! Hopefully everything will be slightly less surreally-Star Wars than last month’s triumph, but you never know! Follow us all on Twitter on the evening of Wednesday 13th July to see how we get on.

The Recipes
Caro is on a gourmet strike and refuses to do anything other than lovely, tummy-warming comfort food at the moment – fine by me! Just reading the six dishes she’s come up with is giving me an inner glow! Here’s our menu for the month and click here to see why Caro thinks these pairing will work.

Trout fillets with Hollandaise sauce
Lamb chops with salsa verde
Goats cheese balls rolled in crushed nuts
Sweetcorn chowder with smoked paprika butter
Crunchy bacon and tomato pasta

Dark chocolate and black cherry pancakes

The Wine
6 classically-correct, well-made and very well-priced wines from KWV this month – looking forward to trying them all! Here’s our choices:

KWV Classic Collection Sauvignon Blanc 2011
KWV Classic Collection Chenin Blanc 2011
KWV Classic Collection Chardonnay 2010
KWV Classic Collection Merlot 2010
KWV Classic Collection Pinotage 2010
KWV Classic Collection Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Click here for more information on the wines. All these wines are available from leading retailers such as Pick n Pay, Checkers or Ultra Liquors and range in price from R34.95 to R54.95 – outstanding value for money.

Win with KWV!

We’ve got a case of wine to giveaway to anyone who thinks they’d like to cook a few dishes, buy a couple of wines and take a couple of photos. Simply pick some of the above food, buy a bottle or two of the wine, cook, eat, drink, photograph and then tell us how it went. There’s a case of wine in it for you so well worth your while I’d say!!
